2014 Team-Pumpkin 150 Square Feet Invitational Pumpkin Tournament
Giant Pumpkin growers all want to grow the biggest pumpkin and we each have our limitations. Ever wonder how your skills measure up to other growers if there was a level playing field? Well this will be your chance to compete, have some fun and even learn a few things along the way that will help you grow in the future.
Everyone in the northern hemisphere is invited to join the 2014 Team-Pumpkin Invitational Pumpkin Tournament that will take place from Feb. 2nd (Groundhog Day) to October 31st (Halloween) 2014. The contest is to grow the heaviest pumpkin possible in a patch of a maximum of 150 square feet (14 square meters).
Tournament rules, entry details and prizes are at this link http://www.bigpumpkins.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=180

Yes, now I will compete too. All the years here I was forced to grow AGs in competition, and I refused. But I invited the weight:space-ratio and had my best with 3.05

pumpkin lobster, that's a nice weight to space ratio(if you're going by lbs./sq.ft.).
Does anyone know what the heaviest pumpkin grown in 150 sq.ft. was this year?

That is self-evidently lb/sqf! My son´s 3.05 would have been 14.83 when kg/m2. I´m sorry for telling that I would have grown this: I never have grown an AG, and I never will grow one, even if RichardB would force me harder anymore.

RichardB is not forcing you to do anything.

ok RichardB, then I do not compete with this 150 sqf! Every vertical construction is forbidden through the rules. But I want to mount the fruit on a table, when I grow such straight limited in space. I do not want to have a hole at the bottom of the fruit, like Beni Meier had this year with his world´s ever biggest grown pumpkin. finere! RichardB, you have seen the pictures here two years ago, where you can see the nearly 3 feet deep founded concrete basement with U-steel to fix anti hail posts and the table for the fruit. Since I have the opportunity to use my technical environment, I do not bow me before such odd rules. That´s no competition for us. My son will grow with 120 sqf space and fruit pedestal outside. You know, RichardB, we have tried a tractor wheel with plate, but a table with only one centered steel foot in the concrete basement would be superiorly.

This one inspired me at my old house when I had a smaller area years ago.

That was the year I started Luke and that single pic got me fired up! I couldn't believe a 700 pound kin could be grown in such a limited space!

I am also curious to know what the biggest was. My 631.5 was grown on 130 SF. Ron Barkers Niece grew a 542 on 100 SF. Did anybody else out there grow one on under 150 SF?

I divided a 30 x 30 into 4 mini sites and grew the 1027, 840, 906 and a 434 all on different plants, all with only 225 SQFT each and way back in 2002. With todays genetics and more efficient pruning techniques who knows what could be done.
