I have my winter growing system running with three clones in it, looking for a few more to try this winter;
2009 Wallace plant from Tim Mathison 2009 Wallace plant from Gary Miller 1495 Stelts plant from Joel Holland 1730 Werner from Pete Glasier 220 Debacco plant from Paul Fulk or Scott Steil
Success is less than 100% but I am willing to give it a try and see if I can get a few super seeds this winter, to be shared with all who help an anyone else until I run out of seeds

If you are interested
Thanks

Nic,
Not to burst your bubble, but I seriously doubt there is any plant material left from those plants. Also virtually 0 growers take cuttings so you would have to go out to the growers patch (preferably a few days before their weigh off) to collect cuttings.

Ashton, not to burst your bubble, but...Nick has been growing giant pumpkins right around 20 years now and has been growing cuttings during the winter months ever since I can remember, I think he knows his chances on getting cuttings.

I too have a system set up in my basement and have a plant cloned from a 2009 Wallace 2nd generation. I've pollinated one pumpkin about three weeks ago. My goal is to harvest the seeds after six weeks and kill the plant. I'm hoping I'll have about 100 seeds, which I will dry and germinate by the end of November. I'll take the top 5 fastest growing plants and grow out 5 pumpkins, harvesting the largest in late February. Using those seeds I will germinate around 50 and take the fastest five to my patch in the soring.

Im just trying to think here..... First time I have ever heard of making cuttings from pumpkin plants and regrowing them was from Nic Welty years ago..but..
Who was the very first person to grow a giant pumpkin from another cutting? ( ether officially weighed in, or not weighed in?)

I just pulled my 220.3 plant on Wednesday so a little late for me. Would have had plenty of new growth. Great idea though. Scott Steil

I ment that I doubt that there are any plants left out there to take cuttings from. Unless any growers decides that they like the looks of their plant, and want to keep them for another month, I don't think there is any plant material left. That is just my thinking process.

Thanks Nic I have a really nice set up with good lighting. Installed solar panels so electricity for lights is no issue. Thinking about a system to get 1 month old plants outside.
