As I see it, the only pumpkins to make it to the really heavy weights have thick walls (others more or less cave in on themselves, which is what some splits are)and so we're selectively breeding for heavy pumpkins even if we're not aware of it. And then we often pick the over-the-charts seeds

Carl- Plug them into the 2012 chart and you will realize that the 42 out of 50 going over has more to do with the change in the formula in the 2013 chart. Those that edit the chart formulas might want to consider going back to the 2012 formula.
