Nick's Garden Center had its weigh off this Sat.in Co., & I had the opportunity to chat with many growers about ground cover. Everyone has a different opinion....from the type to the time frame. Some say it is too late already. Also, in the past, I have put down horse manure and compost fall & spring. No ground cover. Thoughts on both? And can you plant cover and do the manure/compost as well? If so, what order and when? Thanks....I REALLY need some advice, as I only came in 12th at 444.5 lbs!!!! :) Love my baby-giant!!!!

Really depends on the weather as to if you can get the cover crop going. If you put the seed down and then water it and then put clear plastic on top of it you will get a much better germination rate.

I just planted my winter wheat today with mykos. Even here in Minnesota it will germinate yet this year and then will explode in spring. I will add my leaves and manure over the top yet this fall. The winter wheat will find its way through all of it.
