They placed first today in both the pumpkin and squash categories today at Port Elgin Pumpkinfest! What a huge accomplishment! 1545 for the pumpkin and 1233 on the squash - that puts them as the leaders for the Green Jacket too!

It was a huge highlight of the day to see Phil and Jane win the pumpkin category after securing the squash category. Had to wait for the Bryson pumpkin to hit the scales right at the end of the day to see them do the double at Port Elgin!! What an outstanding growing team!! Looking pretty good for the GPC Mater Gardener award this year.... time will tell!! Congratulations on your outstanding season so far!!

Thank you very much everyone. We just got home late yesterday from Port Elgin. It sure was a surprising weekend for us. We were going to leave the pumpkin at home & just take the squash, but decided on Friday that we couldn't go to PE without a pumpkin, so we loaded one up at the last moment. What a good decision that was. LOL. We would like to thank the PE Chamber of Commerce, Sally & the rest of the Pumpkinfest crew for putting together another outstanding event. We'd also like to thank our fellow growers for all their support on Sat.

Jane & I would like to congratulate our good friends Chris Lyons on his new Canadian record field pumpkin & to Bryan Mailey who took the watermelon title at Port Elgin. We'd also like to congratulate our fellow growers who reach a new PB this year. There were many that did reach new PBs, so that looks great for next year's event.

Lastly, we wish you all the very best at the remaining events for 2013. Take care & good luck.
