I had a giant pumpkin that measured 205.25" at about 192lbs on the 11th of september. The pumpkin was stolen sometime on the 12th of september. Has anyone ever had a pumpkin stolen?

Never heard of theft but have heard many stories of vandalism. Some folks have absolutely zero respect for others achievements. That ticks me off more than anything else in life.

I am pretty sure that the people that stole my pumpkin were mexican and wanted the pumpkin for food. I have a 3600 sq ft community garden that I share with my family. What makes me really mad is that where my pumpkin was in the garden there was tomatoe, pepper, carrot, and winter squash plants that were not touched!

Sorry to hear about that sucks after all the work giant pumpkin growers put in. I live in Joliet and if you ever need seed or want to chat pumpkins shoot me an email. Just took my 416 lb kin to bengstons. Great time good growers!

Sorry to hear that. One thing is for sure, it doesn't matter what their nationality is.

I had a 250 lb nice orange one sitting out by the road just for display and the other day I came home from being gone for only an hour or so and it was gone. It had to be at least two guys who took it or some pretty strong kids. Should be easy to spot if I take a ride around town. lol

I am not out of giant pumpkin seeds. I get some pumpkin seeds: 863 kopp and 975 a. kopp at the same pumpkin weigh-off that Scott went to. Also, the only reason why I think that mexican people stole my pumpkin is that most of the people that I have seen that stole from the gardens were I live are mexican. Lastly, a couple of days before the pumpkin was stolen, a couple of people were looking, pointing at my pumpkin ,talking in spanish to each other. One guy made a hand motion with two of his fingers like a pair of scissors.

I had a very orange 500 pounder stolen from a local garden center. I'm quite sure it wasn't stolen for food!

I think we have heard enough evidence to condemn the entire Spanish speaking world including all Mexicans for the heinous crime of stealing your pumpkin to feed their starving children. The fact that none of the white folk vegetables were stolen is enough to convict.

One of the local school here was growing a giant pumpkin, someone stole it, then a week later it turned back up at the school with a note attached saying sorry for taking it. They never did find out who took it.

I've had pumpkins, fruit, sunflowers, and other stuff taken when I was working in my university show garden. I'd stand up and ask them if they want more. They just kept walking. All of them were middle eastern. Maybe a Mexican took something when I wasn't looking. Here in CA,They are very sneeky.

As long as we are blaming Mexicans for stealing our pumpkins is it okay to blame them for the splits, foaming stumps and hey why not the cucumber beetles and the squash vine borers? Seriously folks we don't want pumpkin growers to be known as racist rednecks. Do we? Piece out and hug a Latino / Mexican today.

I did not mean that all mexicans steal. There are other gardeners that are mexican at the community gardens near my garden that are very nice to talk with. I would be ok giving vegetables to anyone if they were to ask first. Anyway, next year I plan on growing a giant pumpkin by crossing a 863 Kopp with 975 A. Kopp and starting the pumpkin indoors on the 10th of April. Then planting it outdoors on the 28th, just like Ron Wallace in 2012.
Wish me luck!

I have had the main vine yanked up for no reason, I have had them kicked. I have had them steal my pumpkin, three kids rolled it away, a neighbor seen them and told us a year later! I had one taken when I grew at my sons school!
