What kind should I use? I can get blow sand which is highly compactable or play sand. or if I take a longer drive I could find different kinds but more expensive.

Play sand should be fine.

Find a concrete company near you and see if they will sell you a truckload. I have a company nearby that dredges sand from the river. Landscaping companies, township public works, highway depts, masonry companies, etc. might be options also. I get it for $15 per ton, and they load it. Play sand or tube sand from you local hardware store is convenient, but the cost difference is considerable.

Hi Darren, what about the old lead contamination in Omaha? You should know about the Pb and boron contents of the sand you buy and of your soil, cause B came down with lead.

How much lead should I be adding to the patch? Got my boron just right.

If you want to improve drainage I like river sand over play sand.

Marsh sand is best.
