Was wondering what the largest pumpkin grown from a pumpkin seed out of a pumpkin 400 pounds or smaller is? Was thinking about trying my 421 next year.

50 Todd grew some big ones. Basically, the size of the final pumpkin does not depend on the size of the fruit the seed came from, it simply depends on the genetics of the seed and on the usually very important parameters of pumpkin growing (soil, temperature, plant health etc.). Just imagine Christy Harp had grown her 1385 Justras x self as a little genetics fruit on a 50 sqft plant to become a maybe 100 lbs pumpkin...the seeds still would have had the potential to produce fruit such as the 1789 Wallace and the 2009 Wallace.

I knew the size of the fruit does not effect what can be grown off it. Just curious what the biggest pumpkin produced off a same seed is?

My 421 is a 991 urena self grown off 150sqft on a pencil vine. It has good genetics and grew so well with so little I figured its possible to grow a monster off it!

It's about the genetics. Genetic crosses go largely ungrown but they can have potential to go large.
