Hey everyone! Was just wondering if anyone has ever grown or seen a abnormally large ornamental gourd? My 4 year old daughter loves spending time in the patch with me and she grows gourds, I noticed the other day that she has one of the yellow top green bottom (for lack of a better term) gourd on her plant that is about as big around as a 2 liter bottle :) didn't know if this was common or not iv never seen one this large, just figured I would ask she is very proud of it :)

i saved some seeds from my dad's winged gourds last year assuming there would be some crossing into the genetics. my dad and i both probably have at least 40 plants each of these and they are probably 20% big ones like you are describing--i am guessing that many of them will be over 5 pounds. the rest of them are beautiful winged gourds. i will post pics at harvest time. by the way, most of the big ones are green warted or green and yellow. maybe crossed with pepo jack o lanterns?
