Yesterday I had a couple stop out to purchase Tomatoes for canning. They were Boy friend and Girl friend, gidee as can be. After purchasing 38 pounds of maters they asked what I had growing in the screen house so I told them to go take a look. They both walked up to it and just stood there asking me if its real. The Guy just stared and stared for it seemed, for an hour. He then said he had seen alot in life but had only witnessed one other thing that had more determination to survive and grow. He had even takin a hanky from his back pocket and wiped a tear from his eye. With a long smile he told me he just had his 97th birthday laughing while he told me pointing at his girlfriend saying she was alot older than him but if he wanted supper, he'd better be quite,lol. He told me he was an Army Cook just put at Pearl Harbor to help cook with the influcs of all the ships that came into port. Long story short he went through the attack at Pearl Harbor. When I shook his hand and thanked them for coming out it was everything I had to keep my emotions in for the respect I now have for this man. Yep...Yesterday was my Best Growing day.

Joseph, I´m glad you did continue the great journey you started last year, the journey of exploring the giant pumpkin side of life (otherwise you would have missed this great day, and probably many other great and heartbreaking days as well).

Glad you all didn't mind me sharing this moment. Felt kinda silly after I Posted it. I still can't believe at their age they were out runnin like this. Imagine when they were in there 20's and 30's or even 60's and 70's lol. They said they would be back to see the Sundstrom. I'm still smilin in AWE. He was probably the Toughest Cook back then..he has to be around 6"8" with shoulders like an ox even today. Pumpking...its true...People make this sport. Both inside and out of it. When I think of trying to walk in this mans shoes for even a minute it takes my breath away. Can't wait to see them again.
