Drew, I had a a main rot last year about 1 foot out from the stump. I had a lot of plant behind the stump so I instantly lost a lot of fruit growth. The little bit of plant that I had left( about 60 %) did keep it growing slowly, so be sure that it is not growing before you take drastic measures, especially if you want seeds from it. My plant looked very healthy before and after the main vine rotted. I found 2 leaves on the main that were severely wilted the morning I found the rot, that was what tipped me off. I am not sure what caused it, maybe a scratch on the underside of the vine that was slowly rotting ???
