With the cooler than average temps being experienced in many parts of the country. Things could come a little differently this year.

Send some of that cooler to NC, we've had two nice days- the rest have been over 94 degrees

I'm with Old-Rookie. With all the cool weather, the most consistent ( and controlled) growing climates will probably be found in a greenhouse somewhere.

Somewhere they are getting sun and temps above 72, not happening in the upper midwest this year. My vote is a Greenhouse or anyone South of me who fits the above description.

pap, are you talking about the grower everyone happens to get to know, no matter which part of the message board (AGs, water melon etc.) one happens to read?

Highly unlikely but would be interesting if a first year grower produced the big one this year. What a sudden rise to fame that would be

LOL, Iowa is Midwest in my book, at least it was the 5 years I lived there...and it is South of me. Much warmer climate then we have.

I have no knowledge of any pumpkins anyone has but with the cooler than normal temps this summer in the Ohio, Pennsylvania area I have been wondering if Kentucky or Tennessee will churn out a monster

Best summer in the northwest that I can remember. A few big one's could come from Washington, Oregon, or even B.C.. Watch out for a big one from a number of great growers up here. Steve Daletas, Thadd Star, Jake Van Kooten, or Stan Pugh are a few of the likely suspects.

Huffspumpkins I have been wondering the same thing about Tennessee and Kentucky and the south in general. Maybe it could be Northern Cal or Oregon right on up into Canada. Let''s not forget JD and Dale, they can grow them big regardless of the weather up in Alaska.

Although I will say this, 2,007 the year Joe Jutras shattered the world record was a lot like this here in New England.
