Found what looks like a ball of spit on one of my secondary leaves. There was a small green bug inside. Is this a grasshopper or something to worry about?

It´s a baby of a so-called froghopper (or spittlebug)

They will drink some juice from your plant, but they don´t seriously hurt the plant, because they do not drink much and they do not appear in such hazardous amounts as aphids do.
Nothing to worry about.

Hi yardman, in this particular case it seems like someone had indeed tried to spit something onto your leaf (while eating such a little crispy guy), or someone had tried to find an alternative to foliar fish fertilizer.
