what is a normal time frame for oldest leaves to start fading and turning yellow. This cold wet weather seams to be making plants suck old leaves up?

Are you spraying a fungicide...the cold weather brings the dew, which brings the powdery mildew

When my leaves get old, they usually get crispy from the sun, not yellow. Yellow is usually the sign of some problem. Especially if it starts somewhere other than the stump.

Do you have any picture links? Yes, there is age but my guess is the plant is still to young to be having age related leaf die back.

Jason I'm like you - not real techy with this computer stuff.
I posted the link above as it has a lot of photos of leaf disorders and good explanations. Maybe it will help.

Re: spider mites. Be very careful for over use and spraying of a single miticide or you will create super mites that are resistant to the spray you are using. This is especially true if you are using Avid. There are several new (last few years) miticides out there. You just need to read a lot. This is one area in pest control that more is not better, follow the directions of the product you chose carefully. A full bottle of these new products can be very expensive. I have seen small quantities on Ebay and some hydroponics grow stores often sell small amounts (under the counter- wink wink) as it apparently is the most common pest problem of indoor pot growing. I used Kontos for a problem in a green house this past year with good results. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS
Good luck,
Michael
