I have one plant the has a softball size pumpkin growing on it. Approximately two to three feet after the pumpkin, the main vine was damaged by a storm and broke in half. I cut the vine the rest of the way through and covered it with captan, then buried it. Is there anything else I should do?

not really. if you have any side vines coming off this let end one become new main. if side vines are all clipped off, and not great vine position, cut off the rest of the vine to reduce vine stress
