The weather here in the UK has been the best we have had in years! Tomorrow is the start of the 4th week with temps in the 90's and as a result my pumpkins are growing at a rate like I have never experienced. There's been no rain for a while but that seems likely to change on Tuesday with thundrous rain, potentially all day. How worried should I be with so much rainfull in such a short space of time. Anything I can do as an outlet such as terminating some secondaries so counter the potential surge to the pumpkin?

Cheers

Pete

when I am expecting heavy rain I water the hell out of the patch,i guess it helps with the surge.

If you get more rain then you think the plant/pumpkin can handle cut 1" (or ~2.5cm) off the ends of your secondaries as this will allow the plant to bleed out some water and then it will heal itself back over and your pumpkin will hopefully keep growing at a sustainable pace.

Muddy Waters

Use some water soluble tricodermas & beniefecial bacteria to insure a healthy soil or the bad boys might take over.

Thanks for the advice!

Be careful moving the vines. After a big rain they will snap with a slight move.

yep, snapped a few on my 150 patch turkeygun. Had to train them vertically to keep within the boundaries and they just cracked off when I held them.

I don't dare go near my full patch plants
