What would kick start the ripening of the fruit? I added Gypson. could the raise in calcium cause the ripening of the fruit. By shutting off another nutrient?

or I added 1/2 yard of some city compost which is 0.5% Phosphorus & 0.9% potassium.

Or could there have been Clopyralid in the compost. Which could explain the deform tips and early ripening? (But I put it in my tomato buckets with no side effects)

Not sure of the cause Darren but I had similar ripening affect for a kin that aborted last year around day 30. Maybe not what you were looing for in a response

How is the growth rate? Is your suspicion of ripening based only on the color? Is the portion that looks the most orange in the sun?

My guess is this is from a seed line with a strong orange color in the background;-)

if there are tomato's near by that are getting ripe they produce Ethelyn that speeds up the maturity of fruit

Mind if I add to this Darren? Having checked my 854.5 Frei (12 DAP 30") I am observing exactly the same colouring.

Matt: The growth rate on the 854.5 just slowed up from 3.5" a night to 2" last night but I think that's a response to the cooler weather we had over the last two days. Supported by my 1770 slowing down on the same night from 2" to 1" a night. The 854.5 is blanketed from the sun. The 854.5 is a 1161 remake and was orange!

My 1480 Urena has colored up very early. From what I have read this is due at least in part to the growth hormones I have been using. The pumpkin is trying to rot but charted at 653 pounds this morning. I now have a backup growing on this plant.

Like all good things TD more is not always better. Nitrogen is good but if you poor a bucket of 50-0-0 on the stump of your plant you will rot her off every time. I hope you don't give up on my juice and use it to my specs as I did the same as you before during my experimental years, trying to perfect optimal use.

Mr T - I am totally sold on the use of growth hormones. I simply want to learn the optimum usage for these amazing substances.

Mr T, my 1640 Wolfe didn't seem to be growing very fast. I noticed this morning it has developed a foaming stump. I will probably pull the plant.
