Sometimes 'the chosen one' pumpkin we elect to keep does not always lay a correct 90 degrees from the vine like we would hope. Moving it slightly each day while it is warm seems to be common knowledge. Anybody willing to share tips on moving a pumpkin to correct vine angle and to not snap it off? Spacers? Rubber band? Pumpkins don't like to stay put especially laying on sand. Should they be moved while they are very young or later when their own weight should anchor them better? Curious about your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks

You have to wait till they get bigger and you can use their weight o keep them in place imo.

I of course snapped one off in 2010. I think Pap advised once to move the vine and not the pumpkin.

Like Chris said. You can cut the taps on each side on main and in heat of day lift and slightly pull towards blossom end to slowly help with future shoulder clearance. This is the time to try to keep blossom nub and stem parellel to the ground. After severing some taps you may want to add small 1" thick pieces of styrofome under leaf junctions on both sides if needed to stop a future bird bath scenario with blossom going upwards.
Small adjustments. You can still lift and reposition with good slack until too heavy to lift.

my keeper is always positioned before the last few tap roots have time to grab. I don't like cutting tap roots or any root for that matter off untill i start feeling a little vine stress. If things start to feel tight as the kin grows..then i cut.. but not before. If you have lots of space to grow, you have nothing to worry about.A good hot day and you can tie knots in those vines!!

Sounds Good Carl I just cut my tap roots today on Dap 18.I like to have all the roots I can as long as possible,I had the kin in place early on the vines feel really flexible this year.
