I have one large pumpkin on the main vine that will be ready to pollinate in the next few days but I also have several pumpkins coming out on stringers. Should I clip these now or wait to see which one comes dominant.

Always keep as many options open as long as possible.

If your goal is to win a weigh-off don't waste your time pollinating anything but the main vine females. If your goal is just to go to a weigh-off with a pumpkin than grow a few on a plant. For me personally, all my eggs are in one basket.

Pollinate a few on secondaries near the end of your main.A secondary can become your main with some trimming if you get unlucky with a main pollination.

A reasonable strategy is to pick the second largest female and keep it growing until you're sure the primary hasn't aborted.
