I want to spray a teaspon foliar of manganese sulfate in a gallon of water and wonered if it is ok to mix with my milk spray I use for mildew. Any concerns with manganese mixed with 40% milk? THanks. Jim

I'm in the middle of finding what works well with the manganese too Jim,,,,,, so far,,,,,,, not much. I've been doing an 1\8 cup as a drench,,,,,,, so far,,,,,,,, the plants loving it! That's per 750 sq. ft. The tissue test will let me know if I need to go up or down on the dosage.
Hope it cools down for you out there!

@ So.Cal: When you say the plants are loving it, what's the observed effect as a result of the MnSO4. I'm using 1/2 tsp in a gallon over the plant and root area as the leaves are indicating a deficiency.

I've never added something like manganese before, at least not by its self....... I always have this strange feeling in my gut,,, that when I wake up in the morning the plants are going to be wilting because I did something wrong:) Hasn't happen though and the plants that are getting these feedings are doing very well.
This is a 1\8 cup per 50 plus gallons, over 750 sq. ft. I won't really know the outcome until the next tissue test.
I really don't know much,,,,,,,,,,,, but I'm a really good listener :)

Hi Jim-
My guess is it should be fine but I would do the "jar test" to see if there is any interaction/precipitate formation. If it looks like the combo is getting along then if you spray in low light you should not seen any negative side effects.
Keep up with the milk sprays at 40% and you should see a major reduction in powdery mildew formation. When I had my research plots I was amazed (as well as other growers I brought in for a look) at the effectiveness of just applying milk.
