Anyone get the stem ooze early on like 4 DAP? I tried finding other posts on it, and I found one where Tremor said it is common on fast growers. Well I am only the size of a softball and the stem has little brown areas where that gel\snot has been dripping for 2 days. Any ideas, I have never had this so early. Luke

I think it's signs of aborting.

my pumpkins that have set have done that the last 2 seasons, including my 1187 this year at day 10. I have little brown cracks that leak. I put undiluted garden disease control (chlorothalonil) on it and let it dry. Just over 20 in on day 10.

Thanks Jeff, it is still growing and it stopped leaking on its own for the the first time today. I had been dabbing Captan powder on it, but nothing helped.

check for main vine stress before and after the pumpkin and try a fan on it, it may keep leaking until the stem reaches its full size.
