Strangest thing i have seen before ,, I finely thought i had a winner , Plant is great ,, & growing fast,, stump getting large,, very healthy, probably best plant i have seen in while, but iv gotten 3 pumpkins that stay small, not growing ! I don't thing there aborting eater, one one main at 7.5 ft out bee pollinated 8 days old & only the size of soda can, one on a very healthy & big secondary that is 5 days old ,it is only 2 times size of golf ball ,,, Now the pumpkin that i wanted at 12 ft on main 4 days today &still size of golf ball ! ,I got one comming at 17 ft out ,, looks ok but same as others im thinking ! Never seen such small pumpkins ,, ,ANYONE got any ideas ?/ has the 1381 done this before ?? Thanks in advanced ,

Do the male flowers look normal and have pollen inside of them? I have had a sterile plant before.

Thanks for the reply Orangeneck ! Yes the male flowers look fine ,yes plenty pollen ! I have next pumpkin coming on main vine in few days ,i will pollinate with the 1579 just in-case! the 1579 plant is long ways away- so i am sure bees haven't gotten that pollen to the 1381 so that's good idea i will use 1579 pollen on next one !! The main vine blew off the end last night just 3 ft past my last chance at 17 out, I sure hope it works! But it seems like something wrong with females on this plant , but of course i am not positive about that !

My 1872(biggest nicest healthiest plant ive grown) seems to have a similar problem but they are staying small then aborting. Pollinated on 6-18(14ft out)turned spongy at day 8-never dropped down about the size of a racket ball, 2nd set at 17 ft dropped, stem thickened but has not grown and today it looks dull about the size of a racket ball. My last set is from 6-29 so its at day 4-looks ok so far.each set was with different males. My 1187 johnson however was pollinated on the 25th and is steadily growing. same sprays, watering and weather for each plant
