Subject: How far out the main do you want your pumpkin?

I've had them as far out at 33 feet in the past. In my less than optimal conditions I've never had the chance at setting at 8,10,12 feet like you folks do up north. But this year I've got a super strong vine in a new field and I pollinated at 10 feet or so yesterday. Leaf count is only about 70 and I'm thinking the next female may be the one to focus on.
What's the wisdom these days on where you want to pollinate? As always - thanks!

I always try for the goldilocks zone of 14 to 16 ft. Myself because that gives it enough steam behind it for good growth but 2 years ago I grew an 826 lber. At 9.5 ft. So go figure!!
