I've had 3 females on the plant so far, at about 10, 12 and 14 feet. None have grown larger them a marble and then withered. We've had a ton of rain, but I'm not sure if that would be a problem or not. Any ideas????
thanks

I have seen that too Dave. My guess is that all the rain stresses the plant and the blossoms abort. I am just waiting for the next one. I may have to start looking to secondaries too.

I had it happening and suspect it was too much N. We had tons of rain too, but that might have been what flushed the N. Mine just started maturing again, but there was a 3 week period with nothing after one matured early June.

To much Nitrogen. Been there done that. If the ones on the secondaries develop but the ones on the main do not, to much N.

I did a little research after an abort and a female that didn't open the day it was supposed and found that p and k are hard for plant to uptake in wet soil. When it rains every day I imagine the existing p and k levels of plant get used up and not replenished at a fast enough rate. I decided to use 3-18-18 foliar repeatedly. Nothing heavy...just enough to keep a plant thats producing many male flowers also with enough to have enough for the females and small developing pumpkins. This goes against many growers opinions not to fertilize until setting after they set. But had no problems with female flower development and had some successful sets after that.

I had a female do that on one of my plants. We had gotten about 5" of rain one night. The female should have been open in 5 to seven days. It just seemed to stall in development.

I'm going with too much N. Did that too. Took me years to realize how little N they need, especially with high organic levels. With all that rain the plant wants to grow. Now that I've backed off the N I have a lot more females and sooner.

I was thinking too much nitrogen also, but haven't added any for 3 weeks prior leading up to this week. Maybe the latest one will be all right (I hope). It's about 12 feet out and I think the rain is ending for awhile.
good luck all and thanks for the comments.

Got on open this morning. Selfed the 1789 Wallace. It's about 15 feet out. Keep your fingers crossed.
