Although it's still early, out of the plants you've grown so far, which are your best looking ones? My best are a 1650 Sproule, 1337 Jaser, 1382est Bryson, and 1544 Revier. The Revier is huge and growing at an alarming rate. I have a fruit set a about 10 feet out that is estimated between 100 and 150 lbs. It's average circumference is gaining about 5 inches each day now. The main vine is also almost up to 20 to 25 feet long.

The 1337 Jaser is my biggest surprise. Although I started it late (May 15th) as insurance to have a back up plan in the case that I had problems with another plant. I don't think I've ever had a plant that has had such huge leaves to go with such a thick main vine (also about 10 feet long now). The leaves are virtually flawless with some at a length of just under 2 feet. Wind damage has not been an issue inspite of some heavy winds at times. The side vines are also shooting out nicely now as well. I'm really keeping my eye on this one. Since it's a 1161 Rodonis sibbed, the genetics are certainly there. The key will be if I could get a good pumpkin to set on it.

The 1650 Sproule and 1382 Bryson are also decent plants so I wouldn't be surprised to see something big from them as well.

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing about the best plants and surprises that others are experiencing so far. I'm always looking for ideas as far as what to grow in the future.

My 1450 Steil(s), I have three of them growing (not by choice) are all by far the best three growing plants I have this year. The 1756 Lancaster is a close second, but behind the three 1450's. The 1756 is a real beefy plant with big leaves and big vines and I have high hopes for it. I was worried it wasn't going to produce a female on the main but there is one at 15ft now that should be ready to pollinate in about 5 days. We have had terrible storms and wind so the fact that any of them are growing well is a miracle.

My best is the plant I refer to as "home brew" (No name, but she is a 2 year cross project involving Dills AG, prize Winner, and Warlock) She snapped at the stump a month ago, her main rooted from the first leaf node on, and now she has the biggest pumpkin out there. Size of basketball now. Only pumpkin she has thrown, and not wasting any time catching all the others. other plants look good too, but she is just,,,,my 'cool' girl I guess. :}

Holy crap PP...am I that late?...I'm just pollinating first one this weekend..it's only our second year but the plant is still growing well...1553 ghaye...I believe it was grow from review roots...good luck!

Porkchop, you're not late, you're right on time. Pollinations seem to get earlier and earlier each year. Its the pumpkins that are still putting on weight in September that you'll need to worry about.

As for my patch, I would say with 100% confidence that the 811 Gerhardt is the best plant.

Porkchop, I should also add that I start a few seeds especially early each year. I had my 1544 Revier plant set out in a mini greenhouse (with very thick and firm walls) as of early April. It traps in the heat very well. With heating cables, on an early April day, the day temperatures inside would get consistently up into the 70's or even higher. At night, I never saw it drop below the 50's. Although I can't afford to go the thick greenhouse route for every plant, it at least gives me a big head start on at least one or two plants each year. That's the real reason why my 1544 Revier plant is so big this early on. My other plants are only near pollination stage right about now. I've learned that pollinating well into July can still leave plenty of time to grow a monster sized pumpkin. You're very safe, I'd say maybe even still ahead of schedule.

1512 Daletas here. It's the only plant I have left out of eight started after a cold late May. It was initially a back-up plant and a slow grower at first, leaving me two weeks behind other local growers, but has really kicked into gear the past couple of days with all the rain we've had. First pollination was two days ago with a perfect five-lober. Let the marathon begin.

All three of my plants are looking bigger and better than years past, but the real standout is the 1613 Wallace. It is probably 33% larger than the other two started on the same date

Of my 14 plants, the best is the 1257 Northrup (1421 Stelts X 772 Poirier) - I crossed it yesterday with the 980 Fredericks (1544 Revier X 1610 Leiber) although it is under water today.

Out of a 1290 Poirier, 1770 Lieber and a 854.5 Frei (1231.3 Pukos x 1450 Wallace), the 854 is setting the standard in my patch.
Expecting big things from this 1161 Rodonis remake!

My best plant is the 1107 Sweet it is a fair plant and was planted on March 2. No that is not a typo.
It has a 40 day old pumpkin at about 600 pounds. What makes it interested it when we have has our super cool nights, the pumpkins only grew an inch or 2 in circumference. We have had 5 such nights.
Lately though, it has been on fire. It has put on almost 250 pounds in the last 6 days and shows no signs of letting up.

1770 lieber and 1807 stelts are my patch hogs close behind are the 1872 wallace and the 1775 starr which was rolled in a wind storm but making a come back

1775 Starr, it out preformed my other seedlings and is doing an average of 25-30 lbs a day.
