Since I culled my one pollination, then lost my main vine, all secondaries have been taking off and some are approaching 20 feet long. No females will keep though, and I am afraid I'll pollinate 100 feet out on a secondary like last year. Any advice on how to make them bloom? I assume because the main was severed, the plant went back into growth state and not setting females.
This is really frustrating and if I don't produce this year, it will be my last according to my wife. lol

Since the heat I've noticed about 1/3 have done the same here. I hope you get one Luke. If not come up here to western IN & Eastern IL and we will catch some smallies.

I am with Chris, to much Nitrogen, I had the same issue with my 1647 last year. Extremely rapid growth and the females would not develop. I am sure by losing your main your secondaries are cranking due to excess Nitrogen.

Must be in my soil since I haven't really added anything since early season except Neptunes and kelp. I had to act now since the secondaries are getting so long, so I hit it with bloom buster (51 P) this morning.
Mega, with a bit higher of water this year, River Smallie fishing has been great.
Kreig,lets keep the momentum.
