I think you guys have got your fair share of the wet stuff. Share a little with a brother down south wouldn't you?! My mother-in-law has been sharing pictures. I'll have to bring a boat to the Stampede this year.

The rain's all gone, but the damage has been done. If you haven't been paying attention to the news, this is the worst flood in the history of Alberta. The mountains west of Calgary had over 7 inches of rain in a few days. Combine that with the melting snowpack and it spelled disaster for any town along the Elbow and Bow rivers.
The town of High River south of Calgary was entirely underwater and forced 13,000 were from their homes. Highway 1 east of Banff has been shut down. This is the major east-west highway through Canada.
Calgary had over 70,000 residents evacuated. The downtown core was flooded and won't see power for a while. The Saddledome, where the Calgary Flames play, was flooded up to the 14th row of seating. The Flames dressing rooms, along with everything else in the lower part of the building was destroyed.

There's much damage than what I can describe here. The Calgary Stampede starts a week from Friday. The mess is unbelievable. The Stampede has over 1 million visitors and takes over the city. This is going to be very interesting to see what happens.

Our prayers are with all the people affected.

Google it and see the devastation. Go for Calgary flood 2013

Anyone willing to help out can donate to the Canadian Red Cross at www.redcross.ca

Eddy's place is far from the river and he should be ok, but everyone in the Calgary area has had their lives affected one way or another. I was in Calgary last week and went for a run along the Bow River. It is unbelievable that 4 days later anything along the river is underwater.

Thanks
Alan
