With thunderheads moving in, I'm wondering what is the best direction for the plant to face winds regardless of protection? To break it down, typically we have our strongest gusts blow from the west with strong cold fronts causing 60+ mph wind. In years past I would have the main vine running North/south; the usual outcome was rolled vines, but not as many broken leaves. This year I'm running the main east/ west, so far so good. Does anyone have input on this?

To save leafs, I have put a 3-4 foot bamboo stick into ground next to each leaf and then put a piece of tape around. Here you can find 25 peices for 5$, Good luck to you !

Go to the dollar store..Get a cheap packet of plastic hangers...Cut them to make HUGE Vine Staples...No damage to the leaves

Thanks guys, I guess what I'm also wondering is if the plant had to take strong gusts, which would produce less damage. Having the main take it head on or from the side?

I think head on is better.
