I'm having a hard time tilling in my winter rye... it keeps popping back up and re-growing, and all the grass and root mass that is tilled in seems to really keep the soil too wet. Any suggestions?

Pull the plants Pete. It's over! Lol
I rented a tiller to get my cover crop tilled under. My own tiller doesn't have the horses to till it in deep and chop it up nicely. I rented the same tiller that Joe has.

HA! yeah... I think I should rent the barreto again. was trying not to spend the money AND wear myself out... I'm going to try to cut it real short and try again (I also cut the watering a little). I would like to try not to spray it if possible. cover crop looks great for what that's worth! hope it pays off down the road.

I had to use Roundup too, but I doubt I would even look at it now with plants this big and roots grown out.

I cut mine with a mower twice. Then i tilled it in waited for soil tests to come back and tilled with ammendments. No issues with it coming up.
