My squash's stem split right after germination and the cots are separated. First true leaf on one side and nothing on the other. Has anyone ever seen this? I assume it will grow the side with the true leaf and the other side with the cot only will die off. Here is a link to the pics...go back a few days in the diary to see others.

SQUASH IT! (can´t say anything else). No, to be honest to me it looks like it wanted to grow before it has even been the right time for growing. It might mean bad things, but it might as well mean a unique opportunity of growing a beasty beast, much more beastful than other beasts could have imagined. If you have the room available on your patch, just go ahead and grow it and see what happens. Others won´t have this opportunity so sooooooon. If it´s one out of 1000 plants and every grower grows only 4 or 6...and some of us skip those signs of emerging violence of growth for the sake of "ordinary behavior" (I guess at least 95% of us would do that), then you might be one out of only a few within maybe 5 years who grow such a plant. It might turn out bad (that´s the risk), it might behave like normal (a good thing), but it might also behave like a HULK (...no idea why I brought this picture into context with your GREENIE), and it will be up to you to decide which way to go.

Basically, this lenthy explanation can be summarize by what Joe had said. If you can afford the patch space, GROW IT! See what happens (otherwise we won´t know about how to interpret those signs).

I had 1 similar to it and its about 50days old and only 3.5ft long took forever to get growth on it. If no room compost it, but I see you have a spot and are planting it. If I had another 1 do that I wouldn't grow it.
