How long should your cover crop be in the dirt before you work it under to take advantage of the myko that was put down and worked in at cover crop planting time.

Myko will attach to the roots as soon as the roots find the Myko. Now if your question is, by planting a cover crop how long will it take the Myko to reproduce more Myko so that the next crop can gain by there being million more Myko's, that takes 3-4 months.Do a web search and you will find the same answer.

To add to that, I believe the myko that has been with the cover crop has about 3 weeks to survive if there aren't other roots available. So if you can get the pumpkin roots to the myko within that three weeks you can keep it going.
