serenade ingredient is qst 713 strain of bacillus subtilis 1.3% AND companion ingredient is bacillus subtilis GB03*.03% So could serenade do the same thing for our soils as companion ?? serenade is ment to be sprayed on though ?

As I understand it there are many strains of Bacillus subtillus. I use Serenade a lot, haven't used Companion. The Companion literature does put it forward as an anti-fungal, same as Serenade. I see that the Companion write up also says that it can be used with other fungicides and makes them more effective when used at their lower rates of application. I have found this true with Serenade and potassium bicarbonate, they work well together and you seem to need less of both. This is a heavily studied bacterium. But you do have to read this; http://rense.com/general4/bac.htm Nazis, camels and Bacillus subtillus. Sorry I couldn't help,

I also use Serenade. I find its an excellent product. I add to my compist tea at the end of the brew and apply through the irrigation.

Thanks for the responses ,I am mostly wondering if the serenade could be soil drenched like the companion ,for prevention of soil diseases , It is meant to be sprayed on foliar , But if drenched in soil, would it also help soil diseases ?

There is a formulation of Serenade called Serenade Soil, which is also B. subtillis at 1.3%. Not sure how it differs from the foliar Serenade. I've never used foliar Serenade, but the Serenade Soil has stinky yeasty microbial smell.
Serenade is a different strain of bacteria than Companion, so it won't perform exactly the same, but will probably have some disease suppression as a soil drench.
What are you applying it for?
Remember, pesticide labels are the law, but if you already have a big jug of it...

Jyreo Thanks for that posting. I did not know. Great. I just read the label and test performance data. Very impressive. I assume it is very similar in action to Companion, at least in the intended action and benefit. Different bacteria, QST 713 strain of dried Bacillus subtilis*. I doubt that it is labeled or available in Canada but I will do a mail order and try some and/or Companion and see what happens. Here on the WEsT coast we constantly fight blight on tomatoes. I see that the target pathogens are the common problem fungus. And again, Thanks to all of you who research and post the information we all learn from here on BP. I have this idea that I am a very knowledgeable gardener (age is the reason) but I am constantly learning from you. !
