If anyone has looked at my diary at this address: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=198792 you will see that I thought I could make a device to feed fertilizer into the line while I am watering with the hose. This doesn't work but I am wondering if anyone knows of what modifications I can make to get it to work or is this never going to ever work.I really thought there might be some suction on the feeder tube but apparently it isn't quite that easy.

I think you need a much smaller tube for the siphon, they usually have a rubber hose with a spring on the end to catch goodies. They coast about 15$ last time I bought one.It is a 15/1 ratio.

you need a cone on the inlet side to cause the siphon

I was wondering about that.Maybe I'll try to stuff a smaller hose in the tube and see what that brings.

The little pipe should be coned at the end inside the big pipe? If that's what you mean,I thought of that and then dismissed the idea as I considered the restriction it would cause.

Crude, but doable. Reduce any restriction you have at the outlet. It's going to take an appreciable water flow rate to make it work.

None of them will work with a sprayer on the end. I didn't realize that.
