There has been a fair bit of discussion regaurding shade cloth. I would like to use it this year but don't want to spend that kind of money. My question is- Do you think a trampoline canvass woul work??? I have always noticed that our lawn grows better under the trampoline where it is cooler. Would It be too much shade? Thanks

Its not the heat so much as the UV index... We do get some very high UV days in Ontario... Buddy, that trampoline fabric is probably 70-80%.... Too high.

Joe, Shade cloth is very dependent on your local geographic region. Are there other growers nearby using it and at what percentage? I would agree with Chris that the tramp fabric is a very high percentage and probably not let enough light through....

Based on people I know that use shade cloth and grow monsters in this region I'm gonna say 30-40% is the sweet spot. I use 30 and on the high uv days I need to mist along with shade to prevent burn on new growth.

The latitude of where I live in Idaho is right in the middle of southern Ontario. In other words, southern Ontario is not very far north. Growers in Utah just south of me swear by it. I want to try it this year as well. When your leaves are burning during the middle of the day, that can't be good.

Hit send to fast...... I have been using a 25 foot x 25 foot piece on each plant for the last few year. It helps me shade and more importantly its used as a hail netting. I always take it off when the plants outgrow it. Should I leave it the whole season?

A old trampoline canvas makes a hell of a wind break fence for my plants, been using the same canvas(s) material ( I had 2 of them) for the past 6 years now. I had to cut the material to make it work but you cant beat it for durability thats for sure. Best wind block pertection I have ever used.
