Hey Darren, that is pretty much what I do. A weak mixture like you mentioned once the plant is down and vining. Should be good for about 3-4 weeks before you'd need another application and then I would do another gallon drench and foliar feeding (top and bottom of leaves).
I keep on a program of every 4-6 weeks to keep ahead of things. We only battle with aphids and cabbage butterflies and dont have the borers or cuke beetles....

I have granular Merit.... so I spread it around the plant...now...since it will have to work its way into the plant.

Just don't over do it Darren. Watch them creeks, 1/8 is good enough and works.

ha no life in the creeks around here Luke. We use them as a byway for sewage. The catfish and carp smell like poo. There's not a smallmouth for hundreds of miles around.
You should come by. All the field corn and beans you can eat. State bug is the locust Not the kind that only comes out every 17 years, we get them every year. Mosquito's the size of chiwawa's. The fresh air of the slaughterhouses. You know, Nebraska beef. Should I send you a travel brochure:)

I will use a little on my FPs that are outside.Other then that the screen on the caves stops the need for merit.I wish I didnt have SVBS,There the reason I first designed the screen houses.I have 240 feet of wetlands between me and the river. They say raw sewage ran through wetlands would come out drinkable water. This might be a good experiment.Any thirsty volunteers around.lol

Imidacloprid is nasty stuff. I would definitely do some research before using it repeatedly in the patch. Especially around kids.

I have a hypodermic needle. As an experiment i am going to inject my pumpkin stem when it is larger with imidacloprid in an attempt to localize the treatment to just one plant. If anyone has any suggestions on how best to proceed, i certainly will listen.

O I forgot the best part! When you get here you will get to experience our wonderful weather. 85 to 100 normally with 40 to 80% humidity. And a 50% chance for hail and tornadoes. If a storm comes in we just flip a coin, to see if we keep watching moonshiners, or to take cover.
