Whats going on ya'll.i only had 1seed come up good couple others strugglen,so i wana self it.had male open this morning.was gona see if its alrite to save pollon& how if so

Pollen looses it virality quickly...the best method I have done is to keep the unopened males in the fridge until needed then warm them up. Other wise fresh pollen has like a 10 hour window until it is no longer effective

You should have many more males than females on the same plant. And you should have males open the same day as the females. That is the way they pollinate in the wild.

I have heard of people as Shannon mentioned above that put males that were to open within the next 2 days in the fridge (in water) slowing them down, and then taking them out the night before pollenation and using them the next day. Not sure of the success rate.

So linus. Is the hair drier for drieng out pollon from the moistore of being in the fridge? Female gona open tomorow & not tomany males look like they will be open.piked a couple males to save just incase& with our pop up storms i dont wana risk damage

I think he meant since it is stored in the cold fridge, a hair drier will help it heat up and open like they do naturally in the yard early morning.

Aww ok luke wasnt sure i had trouble in the past pollonating gourds cause of dew.
