Surprised no one has used this yet. I just discovered this from wandering the net, apparently burning and/or vaporizing sulphur is an excellent way to control powdery mildew. At the bottom will be a link to a do-it yourself burner using a light bulb andI have seen other methods using an electric frying pan. Although it is meant for greenhouses and grow rooms, I have to wonder that it might be quite effective on a still night under the canopy of leaves ,which is always so difficult to coat with sprays. I know I would be very happy to not worry about powdery mildew destroying a beautiful green leafed plant. Here is the link and note that the application is for growing pot, but some of the best green thumbs are these people.

A word of caution. Sulpher is used to control PM on grapes but I understand it has adverse effects on cucurbits. I wouldn't use it myself.

Sulphur should be used with caution above 90 degrees F. on cucurbits. I see no information where sulphur should never be used......
