Cheap insurance, after placing collar around plant I like to mix up a weak batch of stinky diazinon( not legal everywhere) and water in the seedling. I'm not a big chemical guy but it will ensure your plant will get off to a good start. Hal

Got mine in the ground today. I treated the area with Bifetherin (sp?) and need to make some collars ASAP.

What is the ratio that you use Judgehal of diazinon to water. Do you directly soak the seedling or ring around it.

the plant is young, so just pour a tab into a 8oz. cup and no worm will be find the pumpkin stem a home. Not lots just a taste. Water it in. Hal

Cant remember who told me this... Maybe Pap? But I lay a small rock or something similar right up against ( touching ) the stem of the plant, and in doing this I havnt had a cut worm problem since then. (Knock on wood)

What i was told about cut worms is when the saw around the base of the stem and kill the seedling they must wrap the entire body around the stem in order to do the damage, and if they cant they move on and wont bother it.
