Where is the Best place in the U.S. to grow pumpkins?
Somewhere, where the temperature is right in the spring and summer, no hail problems not alot of bugs plenty of water; No elkz,in your patch;not alot of wind, liqueur store in every corner, not to many weird-os?????

Idaho wins on lack of bugs and lack of weird-os. Loose in other categories.

I kind of think great lakes region-but some of them have ca-carbonate dominated soil which is not ideal.

If I could live anywhere for the sole purpose of GP growing, I'd have to give the nod to Ohio. Maybe southern Ohio.

In Canada, I get this question all the time. People ask " why isn't California or Florida the best place to grow a giant pumpkin?" and I suppose the answer must be that it is too hot.....it kinda baffles me a bit, if anyone can shed some light on that,it might be a dumb question maybe.

The Kin Cave is the best place in the U.S.Only problem There is a weirdo lurking around!lol Florida is way to Hot,plants shut down at 90 degrees.Northern California should be the perfect climate.I would say around San Mateo.California also gets the best Sun from late August thru October. There day length of Sun and the intensity is much greater then the rest of the continental U.S.

Looks like North east, north and south of the Canadian border and North West, north and south of the border. That would include Niagra, New York, New England states, Washington, Ontario, Manitobe, British Columbia. I think too south, too hot. Too North, too cold.

I'm just guessing here, I don't mean to leave anyone out.

I'm thinking - based on how that grower in Kuaui, Hawaii does this year I might move and try grow an aloha pumpkin.

I Think its the upper Midwest/Southern Canada. The farther North you go the more daylight you get. Basically You want to go as far north as you can and still have consistent temps in the low to mid 80's. In My opinion, out Here on the west coast it is to Cold to grow really big anywhere North of Portland unless your in a green house. We spend most of our Summer in the upper 60's and Low 70's. You can count the number of days above 80 on one hand. I am not too familiar with weather patterns on the east coast but obviously Rhode Island seems to be pretty good.
