Fellow RMGVG Members,

Spring is in the air, and the RMGVG Executive council….. would like to announce a special motivational twist to this year’s grow towards breaking the Colorado State Record……

As announced at our Spring Meet n Greet…. We are putting a “BOUNTY” out for the Colorado State record….. The First Grower to take out the State Record (1308) by the conclusion of the event…. Adds 500-$ to their pocket, in addition to whatever site priZes.

For instance…

Joe/Josephine Grower takes their pumpkin to our first weigh off event...and weighs…1309 lbs…. He/she qualifies…. But the WO is not over yet….. Juan/Juanita Grower 2 weighs next due to a higher OTT pre measure…. And goes 1400 lbs on the scale….and is the last grower to weigh…. Jaun/Jaunita Grower 2 takes home the bounty in addition to whatever prizes at that event….. However….. Bobby Grower 3…WAITS TO WEIGH….AND. Weighs at a later event… and weighs…. 1404 lbs… Bzzzzzzt.. Bobby does not qualify for the $500 extra bounty…..… But Bobby does take top seed for the WeighZ’em HEAVY RMGVG Trophy for challenged states….…….and gets his/her name on the cup for 2013 …as the top weight grown….and whatever other prize fund the site offers…as well.!!

If the record doesn’t get beat at the first WO event… then the next WO event…kicks in….and we hide and watch…. It’s a matter of when… and who… this will kick over to 2014 if not broken this year… It carries over and we ADD 500$ more to it……every year till it goes down….


How’Z that for a bit of a twist to the weigh off year….ehh? And if we can get an additional sponsorZ…. THAT bounty may get kicked up a notch higher….with other prizes as well…. TBD…. Committee will decide….

To qualify, you MUST be a RMGVG member by JUNE 1st – dues paid. GPC rules apply to a sound fruit and must be weighed at one of our 4 GPC weigh off events – Jared’s, Nicks, LongMont, and Old Colorado City…..If we get a 5th GPC WO event in Wyoming (Andy and Ron are working on) …then that event counts as ‘first’ as well…. TBD.

GrowZ’em BIG, WeighZ’em HEAVY, DropZ’em HARD….. “Wanted…. The first to take out the Colorado State Record 1308 +….Will it be YOU?”

i remember when gary and i spoke only a few short years ago when he was working toward developing a weigh-off site in colorado,we have been friends since. now? theres going to be a possible fifth weigh-off site?

a lot of work for only a few individuals. gotta love the effort and drive.

colorado growers owe a huge dept to gary and his fellow club organizers.think of all the fun for growers and families because of these weigh-offs?

that my friends is what its all about.

I cannot take all the credit, we have a great group of RMGVG club memberZ, that help make it ALL happen. We are hoping to have our first weigh off site in Wyoming...

Working with Andy Corbin and Ron Hoffman trying to set one up the 3rd weekend in September. Wyoming is a hard place to grow, with a short season, cold temps and the WIND. It is most challenging.. But they have some determined growers... that still make it happen... Ron Hoffman especially. We love seeing Ron and his family come down to Jared's, but we are wanting to have a GPC Wyoming site to weigh and grow even bigger.

For many years, We have built up our Wyoming grower base, to now even include a weatherman...lol as a grower... and now are looking for a site, with a scale... to move forward...
If someone knows of a site that would interested in sponsorships with a legal scale in Wyoming around the Cheyenne area...Please contact

PS... In our Spring Meeting Paps... I told the 26 growers who showed up in 10" of snow... I have always modeled the club after the SNGPG... If not for your help.. we would not of been able to be the 2nd place most improved weigh off sites... 4 out of the last 6 years... Its your efforts along with likes of Phil Hunt, Todd Kline, Steve Connolly, Joe Jutras... and others....and the RMGVG growers.... who help us make that possible...

I've known Gary ever since he 1st went to Niagara & started the RMGVG. He is one of the hardest workers when it comes to his club & the GPC & I salute him for everything he does for his members & us growers. Although I don't live in Colorado, I'm still a proud member of the RMGVG. Keep up the great work.

Good luck to my fellow RMGVG members. We hope you all grow a new PB.
