Why do you want Sudan grass seed? If it is for a cover crop you might do a little more research on it. I've read that it can supress future crop yields.

I am using it for my resting patch this summer. I have never heard anything bad about it. Where did you hear that? I thought it was the king of green manure. Thanks for the info, I"ll look into it.

Many of the world best heavy hitters use sudan grass as a cover crop. I myself have and never heard of it supressing the next crop..... I even looked into some of the info I have on sudan grass and there is nothing that says it will

I was considering using it for my cover crop until I googled it. Several items came up about it being toxic.

I just googled it again. Actually it was Sudex, which is a cross between sudan grass and sorghum which I had found the info about that steered me away.

I used the sorghum sudan last year. Bushogged it down in July at 5-7', plowed it in and planted buckwheat right behind it. Plowed it in early Sept followed by winter rye. No problems with toxins. I raise it for livestock feed with no problems also. Many drought stressed plants can cause issues for livestock. Same plan for this year.

Here's one of many informative articles on sudangrass and sorghum-sudangrass.

Do the research and decide for yourself. Google sorghum-sudan grass and start reading.
