I am in suspense right along with you. There are a lot of things that still need to go right but up to this point overall signs have been positive. (I just hope this trend continues.)

I will be updating my diary with pictures and descriptions so stay tuned!

Things like this and the grower diaries from "downunder" help to make the long winters entertaining.

Great stuff, Matt. Hopefully you can get all sorts of pollinations set, 2009 x self, clone x self, 2009 x clone and reverse.

@cueball: 1) Matt is the man who is growing precious clone material, and it would be a pity to let it sit in the corner (no idea how many clones will survive until May), and therefore it´s great to see that this genetic source is made use of at such an early stage. (Answer: Yes, he´s most likely doing that for seeds.) 2) Matt will probably be the only one to have 1725 (2009 clone) x self seeds (and other crosses thereof) available by the end of April or beginning of May 2013...no idea if he will, but I could well imagine that he would like to grow one or more of the crosses on his outdoor patch this year. (Answer: Yes, once again, he´s doing that for seeds, what else does a pumpkin grower need from such a plant?)
Last but not least, I have the impression that Matt is trying to save great genetics in a large seed stock for all those who´d like to grow them in near future. Once again: Yes, for the seeds...and in this context FOR THE BENEFIT OF MANY GROWERS.

The resemblance is amazing, indeed. Anyway, I noticed it´s fake...Matt is growing in larger pots.

Are those plants growing on the planet Dagobah? And where's Yoda?

cueball, it seems Pumpking summarized my intentions best as I am "trying to save great genetics in a large seed stock for all those who´d like to grow them in near future. Once again: Yes, for the seeds...and in this context FOR THE BENEFIT OF MANY GROWERS." The goal is seeds to have people grow by the start of the typical 2013 growing season in the Norther Hemisphere.

The true challenge is reacting to the new environmental conditions and hoping everything can come together in time. As I said there are a lot of things that still need to go right such as mature female flowers that open the same day at least one male flower does. I can not call up a fellow grower and get pollen so I need to be self reliant which is a challenge in a small growing space. Either way it has been fun so far I just hope things continue to go as planned;-)

For potential crosses, I do have a few in-mind but with the genetic material I have I do not think I can make a 'bad' cross.

VTSteve- I have left Yoda out of the pictures, but he may appear in one in the future;-)
