I've been reading the old message boards on spray programs. My pumpkin patch is also my vegetable garden. Can I have a spray program and a vegetable garden or do I have to choose between pumpkins and vegetables? Can I have my cake and eat it to? Squirrels, wiped me out last year, but I took care of several of those problems! Mike Cooper

Mike, It all depends on what your spraying. I personally kept about 100 FT from veggies to kins that I sprayed also keeping in mind of wind and normal air direction. I spray Spectricide "Termite and Carpenter Ant Killer" Spray. It doesn't affect the Kin plants and you literaly can watch the cukes and squash bugs fall of and die that fast. I Never high volumed sprayed spectracide on the kins because of the ease of drifting over to the Veggie Patches. I consume and sell my produce Veggies so I am very, very careful. If you can put as much distance between your Giant Pumpkins, Melons and your regular Vegetable Garden and mind the wind, low n slow on your spray means you should be OK. Remember, "When in doubt throw it out" if you think you've possibly contaminated your Garden of Veggies. If you have to combine the Kins with the Veggies like you say your going to, you'll most likely have a tuff time really keeping squash bugs and cuke beetles at bay if they are bad in your area. I use 100% neem oil on all the Kin plants as soon as there 5 true leaves to them so the plants will have it in the system so it turns the bugs off when they go to bite into it. Some growers on here say neem isn't that good and thats ok to each his or her own but it does help with cutting down on how much I spray for pests. Good luck in 2013 and I hope you get it figured out...Theres alot of good growers with good Ideas on here.

Mike, Forgot to mention Seven Dust or Liquid Seven. Both OK to use around Veggies, just wash them good.

I mainly do a fall veggie garden. Can I grow veggies in the fall after pulling the Kins. I picked my last tomato Dec 19th and I still have some cabbage growing. Or should I consider that ground contaminated after pulling the kins. Growing down here you ARE going to have PM,Squash Bugs Cuck beetles and Root diseases on your pumpkin patch.

I grow my veggies in a separate garden, that does not get systemics and other additions that the pumpkin patches.

Squirrels...keep trapping them and keep up with the swim lessons for them.

Organocide is used in the vegetable garden for pests and disease....great crop every year!!
