I know there have been threads on this in the past but I wanted to get an update from some of the growers in the hotter regions that are using shading. What percentage do you like? Have any of you tried different percentages and noticed marked results? I'm looking at the 30% white and the 22% white, but I know there is 10% and 15% hail netting out there and some people have used it. Has anyone used 40% or more? Results?

I use 22% shade cloth for both shading and hail protection.

22% white for the patch. I put 40% up for the vine tips and new growth. I have grown with 40 over the whole patch and 22 in different years. The 40 definitely shades more. I decided 22 since I wanted as much sun as possible, just my theory lol. I use the 40 to protect the new growth and 22 over the whole patch. Seems to work good. I mist as well and my temps are pretty hot in summer. If the plant is a wilter or burns easy, 22% is a little light in real high heat and 40 is needed.
