Basic dog training. Please do not use anything that will irritate your dog, he is only doing nature's business, you just need to teach him boundaries. Walk him around your patch on a leash several times a day, give him a slight correction with the leash if he steps into your patch and praise him when he stays out. Dogs are smart, he will learn quickly if you are doing it right.

I had to make a chicken wire fence to keep my 2 dogs out. They jump it occasionally, but are too lazy to jump it just to take a duece.

It has been my experience that if you interact with your dog on a regular basis that they learn what their boundaries are. I always gave my dog verbal commands and to this day if I should happen to leave the gate to the garden open she won't enter the garden. It takes work and patience. If you work with your dog this winter you should have him trained by growing time. I'm not an expert but this worked for me.

Ashton The dog doo isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you don't plan to grow carrots or root crops in that patch anytime soon. My dad grew a 350 pounder on nothing but dog crap cleaned up from the yard. LOL. I remember Tremor recommending dog food as a soil additive. It is loaded with all sorts of nutrients. I know using crap is nasty and not hygienic but we don't eat these pumpkins.

Dogs can be trained not to go into patch (most dogs) but Dale has not been able to do much with this fella !!

All mammals mark their territory. Get one step ahead of your dog and pee in the patch yourself. Your dog will stay away!!!

If he keeps dumpin in the patch, put rubberbands in with his food. Then you can pick up the poo by the rubber bands
and fling it over the fence.
