There is a lot of information on http://tools.pumpkinfanatic.com. Many growers have uploaded photos of their fruit along with associated information. This site is free and anyone can upload photos or information about their pumpkin.

Mike did not elaborate, but needed to take a year off from maintaining his website.

19 out of 500 pic's. they are no aggc. Last year I could find most every kin I searched for even if it was 500 lbs. then the family tree was so easy to use.

I miss the AGGC. I used AGGC and pumpkinlink to figure our anything I wanted to know about a seed. I haven't figured out how to use pumpkin fanatic's site yet.

The aggc is unrivaled. the create your own query is unreal because when properly used you can find out everything you want about a pumpkin. What male produces the heaviest offspring, most orange. same for the female seed. There isn't a question that can not be answered using it.

Obviously it takes a lot of work to keep AGGC up to date. Perhaps some sort of collaboration is needed between AGGC and the GPC and maybe additional funding to keep the site up to date. It would be far better to have one very good site than having the several that we do now. This would all depend on whether or not Mike is open to the idea though.

I, for one, would be willing to pay at least $50/year to keep AGGC running. It definitely is too much to expect from one person, though.

I think by not having the AGGC it has really hurt the club auctions. I really hope it returns soon.

Well, I guess I'll take my site down. I spent a lot of time building it and taking recommendations from folks, but if others perceive there is no value, then it's not worth my time keeping the site current.
Thank you for the feedback.

I like the pumpkin fanatic site. It does seem like there are some pumpkins missing though and not as many pictures as on aggc.

Pumpkin Fanatic Listen to what they are saying...In business your customers are your harshest critics..they are also your lively hood. I like your site...The AGGC was controlled who could access it a lot of time. You had to beg for membership, and if you made a comment that was different than someones opinion you were denied.

Wow Hoss, calm down a bit. The thread started as a question about the AGGC & I can't speak for anyone but me but my comment was about how great the AGGC was not how your site was. If the thread started out about your site I would not come into it and say don't use your site go to the AGGC, I would show respect to what was started on the thread about your site. I used your app this year for tracking my pumpkins & it was awesome so I know you have the ability to do so much more with your site. So don't quit..improvise,adapt & overcome.

I really like your site Andy. I hope you just keep on doing what you've been doing well-- making your site better and better! People nearly always resist change, but once they get used to using something new, they usually adapt, then like it. Especially if it just keeps getting better and better! I'm sure that I would have been insulted too, if I felt that a lot of people didn't appreciate, or even have the patience to give me the time it takes to make a site better and better, and instead-- focus on what the site doesn't do, that Mike's site did do! I really hope that people will just be patient, and in the meantime appreciate what there is in place!

I, for one, have no negative criticisms to offer about pumpkinfanatic.com It is a fine website, less than a year old(right?) and I am sure that, with the help of growers, it will be a well-respected website in the future.
Let's not put the score on the scoreboard before the game begins.

Thinking up a business is like having a baby. Anyone can do it. But not everyone will stick in there through to the end. Some will get it started only to give up. Others move on to marketing. which is going out and killing something and bringing it home to feed their baby. Your baby will grow and you need to hunt more to feed it to keep it healthy. Finally the goal is when it starts to take care of its self, and don't need you to survive I think your idea can be a priceless tool. If your going to throw in the towel after the first or hundred and first hits. Then give up. Or if your just looking of some sympathy you may not get it. I don't think that's the case. I just think its was just a moment of weakness we all have that. I Would bet that it not so easy to get a pumpkin grower to give up.
What I love about pumpkin growers is they spend hunreds of hours thinking pumpkins. sweat in the sun wind and rain for days. Spend thouens of dollers. then give away the seeds of there frut to support growers and clubs.
So I'm asking BP to support to all that you can to do help this grow. Take a moment to put in your kin's info and pictures. Or could some big hitters donate a seed. For a I don't know, a giveaway drawing for anyone with, or puts a picture on pumpkinfanatic.com

Thank you to everyone who sent emails.
This site(tools.pumpkinfanatic.com) is not a business, but an extension of my hobby and a way for me to increase my knowledge, but still give back to the growing community that has helped me. I already have several other businesses and don't want this hobby to turn into one too.
Darren C., I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and you grow a big pumpkin in 2013.

I think we need to get behind tools.pumpkinfanatic.com. I just went there, and was surprised to find three other growers with the surname "Warren". I had no idea... Anyway, what needs to happen are that individuals need to upload their photos. Photos are worth a thousand words, or, perhaps even more in this hobby. The infrastructure is already there, we just need to use it.
AGGC is currently dead. I suppose that could change in the future, but for now it is.

All of the animals in the barnyard criticized the little red hen who was the only one doing any work. It takes very little effort to criticize. I heard someone complaining about their food stamps because they could not use them to buy beer. I worked very hard making a pumpkin pie only to have one person getting free pie telling me it would have been good if only it was a little sweeter like their mother used to make. Will he get more pie next year. lol. Andy, don't think for a minute you will make everyone happy. Do your thing but do it for yourself. I ate most of the pie. If someone doesn't like your thing they can go elsewhere.
