Hi All, My two comp plants both appear to be sending their mains in the wrong direction this year i.e in the same direction as the first true leaf. Coincidence or weather influence? How hard is it to turn them round or do I just keep them going and concentrate on sending the secondaries into the main growing space? Recent week has been above average with temps in the 30 - 35 deg range or high 90s in F. Mains re just starting to run i.e just over 1ft and just about to fall. Cheers Clinton

Just let it lay down and slowly turn it to the direction you want as it grow out (best to move during the day when it is warmer as less chance of snapping something) and just move a little at a time over a week or two as it grows instead of trying to force it all at once.

You can also make it turn with out ever touching the vine

Due to the coriolis effect your toilets drain the opposite way as the northern hemisphere. So shouldn't that hold true with pumpkins growing the opposite way? ;)

I had a really tough year getting a pollination and losing plants. I was out of room this past August (way late) and turned a secondary on the tip of the main around 30 feet out into a complete 180 so it could go back into the patch for one last try at pollinating. It worked, and she got up to about 400 pounds and eventualy blew up, but point is you can have the vines do 360's if need be. lol

You could probly set a cardboard box with 2 sides cut out over plant open side faceing the direction you want it to grow.& it will turn& run back out the box to get sun

Did you plant it so the main would be opposite of the 1st true leaf..Many new growers think the 1st leaf is the main

I Press my thumb on the base of the plant when it's just two or three leafs and that usually gets them going the direction I want
