I just want to thank the person who gave me an idea on how to use a giant pumpkin for fundraising. I got it off bp.com a while back.

I have my 880.5 outside of Shaws supermarket and are asking people to guess how many seeds along with voluntary donations to the local soup kitchen. It has generated a lot of interest and shaws has even donated thanksgiving dinners to the top 3 guesses. If you find yourself in southern RI take a guess.

Thanks again.

Hey, yeah mine is at the supermarket as well. The seed idea is working but it hasn't been as strong as last years guess the weight. There's something about the weight guessing that people really like. Still, it's generating money for the foodbank and still has a week to go.

I'm hoping my pumpkin holds up. It grew onto its blossom end, so I have a birdbath in the stem. It's been holding rain and it's been raining on and off fairly often. Plus, I had a soft spot on that area and needed a fan for 10 days to keep it dry. I really hope it holds up. I've been drying it out regularly.

I'm tripling my garden size next year so I can grow three plants, and that should ensure that I can get them one to guess the weight each year. It does create a buzz and I will be giving some people some seeds who have asked....there seem to be more people wanting to grow which is always good.

I dont look forward to counting he seeds though.
