OK folks.

One WR down and there will be several bigger....OK I admit....MUCH BIGGER ones to be weighed.

It is best to leave the seed requests until AFTER weigh-off season. These growers are under tremendous pressure right now and obviously don't know if there are even seeds in the pumpkins. Did I say TREMENDOUS pressure? I mean TREMENDOUS...LOL.

Please treat lightly and let them enjoy their moment.

1320 there seems to be some sort of problem here and I'm not getting it. You are very quick to judge someone you don't know.

For the record I've never ever....ever....not returned a bubble. Every single bubble I've ever received I've returned with something.

Chris, gotta laugh that one off.....probably one of the most ignorant comments I have seen here in a while. Some get "it", some never will...lol.....

Good post from someone who has been there.

I don't know why anyone would even think about it until at least November, and then add a few weeks for seed drying. Then, and only then, pick a few that you will actually grow and ask nicely...

Chris, thanks for sending me the seed I requested, thanks for what you've done for the "cause", and my thanks for sharing your advice.

May you continue to "grow 'em big".

Yes Great idea Chris No seed request should happen till November 1st or so.People need 2-3 weeks to dry them anyway.I think 1320 needs a hug or something.

Great post Chris, and in your defense:

I e-mailed Chris on behalf of our club auctions after he weighed his 1810.5 and he so generously offered to donate. When the 'kin was cut and there were very few seeds, he very apologetically e-mailed me that he just couldn't. It was no big deal and we received some seeds from his other great 'kins. They were after all HIS seeds.

To Steve Geddes: Congrats my friend on being the world record holder after only four years of growing. It's a dream come true.

To Pap and Ron: Congrats on your second world record. I have a feeling it isn't your only one this year. Never in this hobby was there ever a more generous pair and Pap's wisdom is evident in every post.

Then Luke you are wrong...How can you send a bubble for a pumpkin when you do not even know if it has Viable Seeds. I agree with Chris. The pumpkin has to be cut open and seeds confirmed before you send a bubble.

I am not wrong. I agree on the hands held comment. Everyone has an opinion, and at 35 I don't need to be told what to do or how to go about doing things. Which, BTW, I have only sent bubbles after growers posted on here to give them out.

Thanks Luke...you and several others privately agree.

OH PLEASE. Chris Stevens is not telling anyone what to do. He is merely making a suggestion of good and proper behavior. Of course we all have the opportunity of acting inconsiderate. Most growers on here are considerate folks anyway. Others just don't care. But there are a few mostly new growers and want to be growers who have little idea of what is considered good manners when it comes to obtaining wanted seeds. I believe that is the group Chris was trying to reach with his message. I very much agree that as much pressure as possible needs to be taken off good people like the Wallace family.

I looked at it as a heads up, than being babied. You don't know if there are seeds in there to give out, he has been in the position of growing the world record, he knows what you go through! I suppose people calling, emailing, just to get a seed.

Why the hate? Re reaad the post. Let a man rest after the tension and stress that takes time to shake out after all the hard work. Really, is that asking too much. I ho not understand how anyone could interpret it any other way. Please 1320 and luke explain.....what is the problem......re read te whole post.

No hate here man, It's the condescending manor he speaks in. He belittled Steve's 1843 in his 2nd line up top. You re-read. "One WR down and there will be several bigger....OK I admit....MUCH BIGGER ones to be weighed." Shazz, I have no hate, just an opinion. I apologize to all parties cause this is stuff I shouldn’t get involved in.And like I said, I've never sent random seed request unless asked first.

Small mouth your first statement is why so many fights start on here. How in the heck do you the manner he was speaking. What you might have meant to say is the way you think he spoke. I've watched a lot of stupid fights start on here because its just written words..you cant hear the tone it's meant to be or if it was harmless. Thats the biggest problem here. Thin skin knee jerk reactions.

Instead of asking for seeds buy them at auction and support a club! It's a win win!

And some people wonder why more top growers do not post more comments here. All Chris did was offer some helpfull insights regarding the stress that the weigh-offs bring, and to be considerate of the growers. There was no need for any personal attacks.Chris is a top notch grower that has been willing to offer his advice to help other growers here, just like Pap Wallace does.1320 please do not try to ruin it for the many growers here that will benefit from good sound advice from any top grower. I hope you can see the error you made and offer Chris a apology.

When an 1800 pound grower posts something, I take notice.
When a couple of lesser growers get on here just to post derogatory comments, I ignore them.
