Interesting rules at the Big-E for giant pumpkins, they must be 80% orange or they are considered a squash:
2. Weigh-Off. Entries for each weigh-off must arrive between 5-5:45pm. The weigh-off will start at 6:30pm. Late entries will not be accepted. Each exhibitor must have sent in an entry form with a $5 entry fee per vegetable by August 31. We will not accept vegetables that we do not have entry forms for. Pumpkins must be 80% orange. Any vegetable with less orange will be considered a squash. Committee decision is final.

its a shame that the big e is not a gpc site. certainly a fair that large has no site fee money issues.
matt d as the new england gpc rep could the big e be your target for an added site next year?
its way bigger than topsfield and look at the fantastic weigh-off that george and the gang put on every year. topsfield blows away the big e. so does frerichs farm for that matter.

I agree with Pap, The Big E is a huge fair and could be a great venue in the future if directed in the right direction. Topsfield and Frerich's are very fun weigh offs that I try to attend every year. only missed Topsfield fair once in my life (wedding day). Good thing you only do that once, lol.
